Monitoring Displacements and Damage Detection through Satellite MT-InSAR Techniques: A New Methodology and Application to a Case Study in Rome (Italy)

Satellite interferometry has recently developed as a powerful tool for monitoring displacements on structures structural health (SHM), it allows obtaining information past deformation and performing back analysis behavior. Despite the increasing literature this subject, lack of protocols applying interpreting interferometric data assessment prevents these techniques from being employed alongside conventional SHM. This paper proposes methodology exploiting satellite aiming at remotely detecting buildings’ criticalities different levels analysis, i.e., urban scale single-building scale. Moreover, research exploits capability damage diagnosis, comparing millimeter to derived on-site inspections. Different data-driven algorithms were applied detect seasonal irreversible components displacements, such statistical models identification traditional monitoring. Thus, proposed was XVI-century case study located in city center Rome (Italy), Palazzo Primoli, two stocks COSMO-SkyMed (CSK) images processed through Small BAseline Subset Differential Interferometry (SBAS-DInSAR) technique used assess an eight-year-long (between 2011 2019) period.
